Shenzhen Bao an Lounges (SZX): Every Lounge and How to Get In
Shenzhen Bao an runs everything out of a single terminal, T3, with roughly a dozen lounge doors split between the domestic concourse, the satellite hall, and a short international pier. Priority Pass lists five of them. Here is the full map.
- Lounge verdict
- Decent for a mainland hub. Domestic flyers get the deepest bench, including Priority Pass doors and the Shenzhen Airlines King Lounges. The international pier is thinner: two airport VIP lounges and a Shenzhen Airlines room.
- Best access play
- Priority Pass. It is listed at International VIP Lounge 1 near gate 309, the Joyee Guest Lounge on the domestic side, and three China Southern doors including the satellite hall lounge.
- The one thing to know
- Domestic and international airside never mix at SZX, and the satellite hall is a separate transfer from the main building. Pick the lounge on your side of the controls and near your gate cluster, not the one with the best photos.
Orientation
How the SZX lounge map works
One terminal, three zones. The main T3 building handles the bulk of departures, with domestic gates spread through the cross shaped concourse and international flights funnelled into their own pier with gates in the 300s. A satellite hall, T3S, takes domestic overflow with gates in the 500s, and you reach it on an airside transfer from the main building, so budget extra time if your boarding pass shows a 5xx gate.
The lounge brands need decoding. The airport's own lounges trade under the Joyee name on the domestic side and as numbered International VIP Lounges on the international pier; International VIP Lounge 1 is the same room some programs list as the Joyee 3 or International Guest Lounge. Shenzhen Airlines, the Star Alliance hometown carrier, runs its King Lounges in both zones, and China Southern operates several SkyTeam rooms including one out in the satellite. English sources for SZX are thin and published hours are rare, so where we could not verify a detail it is marked to be confirmed rather than guessed. Expect most doors to track the flight schedule: open for the early bank, quiet by the last departures, nothing through the night.
Domestic, main building
Domestic departures lounges
| Lounge | Location | Hours | Access | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Joyee Guest Lounge (Domestic) | Level 4, left of the escalators, southwest wing, after security | To be confirmed; tracks the domestic schedule | Priority Pass, Amex Platinum lounge listings, paid walk up entry roughly CNY 300 to 500 | Full buffet but the bar stops at local beer; the default door without status |
| Joyee First and Business Class Lounges (Joyee 1 and 2) | Domestic concourse, exact gate areas to be confirmed | To be confirmed | Premium cabin passengers on contracting airlines; program access to be confirmed | The rooms airlines without their own lounge send you to; fine for an hour |
| Shenzhen Airlines King Lounge Hall 1 | Near gates 14 to 19 | To be confirmed | Shenzhen Airlines and Air China premium cabins, PhoenixMiles Platinum and Gold, Star Alliance Gold | Showers, private rooms and a coffee bar; the Star Alliance play at SZX |
| Shenzhen Airlines King Lounge Halls 2, 3 and 5 | Other domestic gate areas, locations to be confirmed | To be confirmed | Same access rules as Hall 1 | Useful overflow; head for whichever hall sits nearest your gate |
| China Southern First and Business Lounge V2 | Domestic concourse, location to be confirmed | To be confirmed | China Southern premium cabins and elites, SkyTeam Elite Plus, Priority Pass listed | The SkyTeam premium room; quieter than the guest lounges |
| China Southern Gold Silver Elite Plus Lounge V3 | Domestic concourse, location to be confirmed | To be confirmed | China Southern elites, SkyTeam Elite Plus, Priority Pass listed | The elite overflow door; worth knowing when V2 is full |
Domestic is where SZX actually delivers. Two independent doors take Priority Pass, the King Lounges cover anyone with Star Alliance Gold, and China Southern adds two more rooms for SkyTeam flyers. The Joyee Guest Lounge is the busiest because it is the one anyone can buy into; if it is rammed, a Priority Pass also opens the two China Southern doors, which most cardholders never think to try.
Domestic, satellite hall
Satellite hall (T3S) lounges
| Lounge | Location | Hours | Access | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| China Southern Sky Pearl Club | Level 4 of the satellite, above gate 560 | From 2 hours before the first China Southern departure until the last China Southern flight | China Southern premium cabins and Sky Pearl elites, SkyTeam Elite Plus, Priority Pass listed; maximum stay 2 hours | The only program door in the satellite; the 2 hour cap is enforced |
| Domestic VIP Lounge 3 | Near gates 540 and 541 | To be confirmed | Airport VIP service packages; program access to be confirmed | An airport run room aimed at paid VIP packages rather than walk ins |
The satellite is the trap. If your flight boards from a 500s gate you cannot loiter in the main building lounges and stroll over: the transfer takes real time and runs on its own rhythm. Either ride out early and use the Sky Pearl Club within its 2 hour window, or accept the main hall lounge and leave with a generous buffer.
International pier
International departures lounges
| Lounge | Location | Hours | Access | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| International VIP Lounge 1 (Joyee 3) | In front of gate 309 | To be confirmed; tracks the international schedule | Priority Pass, Amex Platinum lounge listings, paid walk up entry roughly CNY 300 to 500 | Showers and a small spirits selection; recent listings flag boxed meals instead of the buffet |
| International VIP Lounge 2 | In front of gate 308 | To be confirmed | Airline contracts and VIP packages; program access to be confirmed | The quieter neighbour; do not count on program entry here |
| Shenzhen Airlines International King Lounge | International pier, exact location to be confirmed | To be confirmed | Shenzhen Airlines and Air China premium cabins, PhoenixMiles Platinum and Gold, Star Alliance Gold on same day international Star Alliance travel | The best key on the pier if you hold Star Alliance Gold |
International at SZX is short on choice but workable. Everything you need sits within a couple of minutes once you clear immigration, since gates 308 and 309 anchor the pier. VIP Lounge 1 is the realistic option for most travelers: it takes Priority Pass and sells entry at the door. Temper food expectations, as program listings have noted the buffet suspended in favour of boxed meals, which tells you most of what you need to know about catering ambition here. Eat in the city or in the terminal first if a meal matters.

What actually opens these doors
Priority Pass is the widest key at Shenzhen Bao an, with five listings: International VIP Lounge 1 on the international pier, the Joyee Guest Lounge on the domestic side, China Southern First and Business Lounge V2, the China Southern Gold Silver Elite Plus Lounge V3, and the China Southern lounge in the satellite hall. Entry is always subject to space, and the satellite door carries a 2 hour maximum stay.
DragonPass coverage at Chinese hubs is usually broad, and SZX sits in DragonPass home territory, but the current door list could not be verified in English sources and is to be confirmed. Check your app before relying on it.
American Express has no Centurion lounge here. The Amex lounge finder lists the Joyee Guest Lounge on the domestic side, International VIP Lounge 1, and the China Southern Sky Pearl Club in the satellite for Platinum cardholders, with terms that vary by issuing market.
Paying at the door works at the two Joyee operated guest lounges, domestic and international, at roughly CNY 300 to 500 per person. Booking through a lounge platform before you fly is usually cheaper than the walk up rate and is the only way to be sure of space.
Class of travel and status covers the rest. Star Alliance Gold opens the Shenzhen Airlines King Lounges in both zones, SkyTeam Elite Plus opens the China Southern rooms, and premium cabin tickets on smaller carriers usually route you to a Joyee contract lounge. There is no oneworld lounge at SZX.
Program rules shift and Chinese lounge contracts churn faster than most. Treat the tables above as the map, and confirm the door you are counting on the day you fly. For the Priority Pass strategy in detail, see the SZX Priority Pass guide.
