Mexico City Benito Juarez Lounges (MEX): Every Lounge and How to Get In
Mexico City runs roughly twenty lounge doors split between two terminals that sit on opposite sides of the airfield. Terminal 1 is one of the best Priority Pass airports in the Americas. Terminal 2 belongs to Aeromexico and the Mexican banks. Here is the full map.
- Lounge verdict
- Very good, with a catch. Terminal 1 stacks independent lounges, several of them open around the clock, plus three Amex Centurion locations across the airport. Terminal 2 is thinner right now because both flagship Aeromexico Salon Premier lounges closed in February 2025 for renovation.
- Best access play
- Priority Pass in Terminal 1: The Grand Lounge Elite, Lounge 19, VIPort Lounge, The Lounge Mexico and Celeste Lounge all take the card, and The Gate Priority Club does with an added fee. In Terminal 2 the card opens the VIPort Lounge plus dining at The Hidden Gate and Modelo Cocina Urbana.
- The one thing to know
- Terminals 1 and 2 are far apart with no airside connection, linked only by the landside Aerotren and shuttle buses. Your lounge options are whatever sits in the terminal you depart from, so check your terminal before you plan anything.

How the MEX lounge map works
The split is simple. Terminal 1 hosts most international carriers plus Volaris and Viva Aerobus on the domestic side, and it is where the independent lounge scene lives. Terminal 2 is the Aeromexico and SkyTeam house, which also makes it the natural home of the bank lounges that Mexican premium cardholders use as a perk.
Details below were checked on 2 May 2026 against operator and program listings. Mexico City rewards the prepared: several Terminal 1 doors never close, which matters at an airport with a steady stream of red eye departures to South America and Europe. The weak spot is Terminal 2, where the Salon Premier renovation has pushed everyone toward a handful of smaller rooms. Hours listed as to be confirmed could not be verified against a current source, so treat those doors as a maybe until you see them open.

| VIPort Lounge | Terminal 1, exact location to be confirmed | 24 hours | Priority Pass, Amex Platinum with enrollment | Functional and always open; manage expectations and it does the job |
| The Lounge Mexico by Global Lounge Network | International, next to gate 31, via entrance J | 24 hours | Priority Pass, Mastercard Airport Experiences, Diners Club; 4 hour maximum stay | The longest permitted stay in T1 and a quieter corner of the concourse |
| Celeste Lounge | Terminal 1, exact location to be confirmed | 15:00 to 23:00 | Priority Pass; 3 hour maximum stay, three alcoholic drinks per adult | Afternoon and evening only; useful overflow when the 24 hour rooms are slammed |

| United Club | International, concourse H mezzanine, near gate 19 | Tied to United departures, to be confirmed | Star Alliance business and first, Star Alliance Gold, United Club members, day pass 59 dollars | Quiet and traditional; the day pass is a fair deal on a Star Alliance itinerary |
| Salon Beyond Banamex | International, opposite gate 18 | 04:30 to 21:30 | Eligible Banamex premium cardholders with boarding pass | One of the better bank lounges in Mexico, with a full bar and a 15 minute massage |
| Terraza by The Grand Lounge Elite | Terminal 1 | Temporarily closed | Priority Pass and Amex Platinum when open | Listed as temporarily closed in program directories as of June 2026; do not plan around it |
Terminal 1 is the reason lounge collectors rate MEX. Four independent doors run 24 hours, which almost no other airport in Latin America can claim, and the Grand Lounge Elite genuinely earns its award with service you do not expect at a Priority Pass door. The international concourse stretches a long way, so note your gate before you settle in. The cluster around gates 18 to 19 holds the Grand Lounge Elite, the United Club and the Banamex room within a short walk of each other.
Terminal 2
Terminal 2 lounges
| Lounge | Location | Hours | Access | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aeromexico Salon Premier International | International, mezzanine near gate 75 | Closed for renovation, reopening to be confirmed | Aeromexico and SkyTeam premium cabins and elites when open | Closed since February 2025 with a December 2025 reopening promised; directories still showed it closed at review time |
| Aeromexico Salon Premier Domestic | Domestic, mezzanine level | Closed for renovation, reopening to be confirmed | Aeromexico and SkyTeam premium cabins and elites when open | Same renovation, same uncertainty; confirm with Aeromexico before you count on it |
| Aeromexico Terraza Premier | Domestic, after security, end of the corridor | 05:30 to 21:00 | Aeromexico premium passengers and SkyTeam Elite Plus | The one Aeromexico room that stayed open through the renovation; small but it works |
| The Centurion Lounge | Terminal 2, airside | To be confirmed | Amex Platinum, Business Platinum and Centurion; guests 70 dollars | Smaller than its T1 siblings and busy at Aeromexico bank times; go early |
| VIPort Lounge | Terminal 2, exact location to be confirmed | To be confirmed | Priority Pass; 3 hour maximum stay | The only true Priority Pass lounge in T2, and it is compact; have the restaurant credit as plan B |
| Salon Beyond Banamex | International, mezzanine | 05:00 to 23:00 | Eligible Banamex premium cardholders with boarding pass | Capacity is capped around 90 guests, so it stays calmer than the floor below |
| HSBC Premier Lounge | International, after security | 05:30 to 23:00 | HSBC Premier, Premier Infinite and Premier World Elite cardholders | Widely rated the best room in T2 for service; bring the physical card |
| The Hidden Gate | Terminal 2, airside | To be confirmed | Priority Pass and Amex Platinum with an additional fee, restaurant format | A sit down meal instead of a sofa; a sensible trade when the VIPort is full |
| Modelo Cocina Urbana | Terminal 2, airside | To be confirmed | Priority Pass dining, restaurant format | Casual Mexican kitchen on the program; tacos beat a packed lounge |
Terminal 2 is in a holding pattern. With both Salon Premier flagships dark since February 2025, SkyTeam elites get squeezed into the Terraza Premier and everyone else competes for the VIPort, the Centurion and the bank rooms. If your layover routes through T2 without status or the right bank card, plan on the Priority Pass restaurants doing the heavy lifting. The renovation was promised for December 2025 and had not been confirmed open by our June 2026 review, which tells you something about construction timelines here.

What actually opens these doors
Priority Pass is the strongest key at MEX, and almost all of its value sits in Terminal 1: The Grand Lounge Elite, Lounge 19, VIPort Lounge, The Lounge Mexico by Global Lounge Network and Celeste Lounge, plus The Gate Priority Club with a surcharge. Terminal 2 offers the VIPort Lounge and dining at The Hidden Gate and Modelo Cocina Urbana. Most doors cap your stay at 3 hours, and the Grand Lounge Elite gets busy enough to queue at peak times.
American Express runs three Centurion locations here, two in Terminal 1 covering international and domestic departures and one in Terminal 2, all for Platinum, Business Platinum and Centurion cardholders with guests at 70 dollars each. Amex Platinum also unlocks several independent T1 lounges through its lounge program with enrollment.
Mexican bank cards are a real access route at this airport in a way they are not in the US or Europe. Banamex premium cardholders get the Salon Beyond rooms in both terminals, and HSBC Premier tier cardholders get the HSBC lounge in Terminal 2. Both banks require the physical card plus a same day boarding pass, and access rules are set by card tier, so check your own card's terms before relying on the door.
Paying at the door works at the Grand Lounge Elite and at the United Club, where a day pass costs 59 dollars. The independent T1 lounges generally sell walk in entry when space allows.
Class of travel and status covers the airline rooms: Aeromexico and SkyTeam premium passengers use the Terraza Premier in T2 until the Salon Premier flagships reopen, and Star Alliance business, first and Gold members use the United Club in T1. Programs change their MEX lineups often, so confirm the specific door on the day you fly. For the full card strategy, see the MEX Priority Pass guide.

FAQ
Mexico City lounge questions
Which MEX lounges take Priority Pass?
Terminal 1 is the stronghold: The Grand Lounge Elite, Lounge 19, VIPort Lounge, The Lounge Mexico by Global Lounge Network, Celeste Lounge, and The Gate Priority Club with an additional fee. Terminal 2 has the VIPort Lounge plus dining options at The Hidden Gate and Modelo Cocina Urbana.
Is the Aeromexico Salon Premier at MEX open?
Both flagship Salon Premier lounges in Terminal 2 closed on February 10, 2025 for a full renovation, with reopening promised for December 2025. As of June 2026 lounge directories still listed them as temporarily closed, so confirm with Aeromexico before you fly. The smaller Terraza Premier in the domestic area remains open for eligible passengers.
Is there an Amex Centurion lounge at Mexico City airport?
Yes, three. Terminal 1 has Centurion lounges on both the international and domestic sides, including an 8,400 square foot lounge that opened in August 2025, and Terminal 2 has its own. The Terminal 1 locations run 05:00 to 22:00, and guests cost 70 dollars at the MEX Centurion lounges.
Are any MEX lounges open 24 hours?
Yes, in Terminal 1. The Grand Lounge Elite, Lounge 19, VIPort Lounge and The Lounge Mexico by Global Lounge Network all list around the clock hours. Terminal 2 has no verified 24 hour lounge, so an overnight connection is more comfortable on the Terminal 1 side.
Can I get into a MEX lounge without status or a premium ticket?
Yes. Most Terminal 1 independent lounges accept Priority Pass or sell walk in entry when space allows, and the Grand Lounge Elite takes paid entry directly. The United Club also sells day passes for 59 dollars to anyone flying that day.
Do Mexican bank cards get lounge access at MEX?
Yes. Banamex runs Salon Beyond lounges in both terminals for its premium cardholders, and HSBC runs a Premier lounge in Terminal 2 for Premier, Premier Infinite and Premier World Elite cards. Entry requires the physical card plus a boarding pass, and each bank limits access to its top card tiers.
