Washington Dulles Lounges (IAD): Every Lounge and How to Get In
Dulles runs eleven lounges across the Main Terminal and four midfield concourses, and the lineup has quietly become one of the strongest on the US east coast. Four doors open with Priority Pass alone. Here is the full map.
- Lounge verdict
- Very good. United covers Concourses C and D with three Clubs and a Polaris Lounge, the foreign carriers cluster in A and B, and the Capital One Lounge in the Main Terminal is among the best card lounges in the country.
- Best access play
- Priority Pass opens the Turkish Airlines Lounge, the Air France KLM Lounge and the British Airways Galleries Lounge in full, plus restricted windows at the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse and one visit a year at the Etihad Lounge run with Chase. A dining credit at Chef Geoff's in Concourse C rounds it out.
- The one thing to know
- Every lounge except Capital One sits out in the midfield concourses, an AeroTrain ride from the Main Terminal. All concourses connect airside, so you can lounge hop between A, B, C and D without ever clearing security again.
Orientation
How the Dulles lounge map works
Dulles splits into the Saarinen Main Terminal, where you check in and clear security, and two long midfield buildings reached by the underground AeroTrain: Concourses A and B in one, C and D in the other. The Capital One Lounge is the exception to everything, sitting in the Main Terminal just past the security checkpoints before you ride out. Everything else lives in the concourses, with the international carriers in A and B and United holding C and D outright. A new Concourse E is under construction but adds nothing to the lounge map yet.
Hours below were checked on 22 April 2026. The geography rewards planning: the AeroTrain takes a few minutes each way, so on a short connection pick the lounge in the concourse you depart from rather than the better one a train ride away. On a long layover the airside connections work in your favor, and a Priority Pass holder can realistically work through Turkish, Air France KLM and British Airways in a single afternoon.
Main Terminal
Main Terminal lounge
| Lounge | Location | Hours | Access | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Capital One Lounge | Ticketing level, past TSA PreCheck between the East and West checkpoints | 05:30 to 21:00 | Venture X and Venture X Business primary cardholders free, guests 45 dollars or 25 dollars for 17 and under; Venture and Spark Miles cardholders can buy entry at 45 dollars; entry within 3 hours of departure | Excellent food, real espresso and grab and go cases; the best lounge at IAD without status |
The location is the catch and the gift. You reach it before the AeroTrain, so it suits departures from any concourse equally, but budget ten to fifteen minutes to get from the lounge door to a far C or D gate. The three hour entry rule is enforced, so on a long layover you wait it out in the concourses first and finish here.
Concourse A
Concourse A lounges
| Lounge | Location | Hours | Access | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Etihad Lounge, with Chase | Adjacent to gate A14 | 06:00 to 22:00 | Chase Sapphire Reserve, J.P. Morgan Reserve and Ritz Carlton cardholders with activated Priority Pass, unlimited visits plus 2 free guests; standard Priority Pass one visit per calendar year, then 75 dollars; Etihad premium cabins and Etihad Guest Platinum and Gold; entry within 3 hours of departure | Reopened in 2026 as part of the Chase Sapphire network; showers, a family room and the most polished room at Dulles |
| Air France KLM Lounge | Next to gate A19 | 07:30 to 21:00 | Air France, KLM and SkyTeam premium cabins, Flying Blue Gold and Platinum, SkyTeam Elite Plus; shared with Emirates, Korean Air and Icelandair; Priority Pass, restricted 15:00 to 18:00, 3 hour stay limit | Reliable buffet and a calm room; the easiest Priority Pass entry in Concourse A outside the afternoon block |
| Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse | Across from gate A32 | Opens about 4 hours before Virgin Atlantic departures | Upper Class and eligible Delta premium passengers, Flying Club Gold; Priority Pass in off peak windows only, blocked in the hours before the London departure, exact windows to be confirmed | Cocktails and table service worthy of the Clubhouse name; with Priority Pass, expect the reduced off peak menu |
Concourse A is where Dulles got interesting. The Etihad Lounge reopened in collaboration with Chase and instantly became the room to beat, though a standard Priority Pass only gets you in once a year, so spend that visit wisely. The Air France KLM Lounge is the dependable everyday door, and the Clubhouse is a prize when the timing lines up. Check the windows before you walk the length of the concourse for it.
Concourse B
Concourse B lounges
| Lounge | Location | Hours | Access | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Turkish Airlines Lounge | Next to gate B43 | 07:15 to 21:15 | Turkish Airlines and Star Alliance business and first, Star Alliance Gold, Priority Pass with a 3 hour stay limit, walk ins accepted | Routinely named among the best Priority Pass lounges in the country; the hot food alone justifies the train ride |
| British Airways Galleries Lounge | Across from the B gates AeroTrain station, opposite gate B50, up the elevator | 14:30 to 22:30 | BA and oneworld premium cabins, Executive Club Silver and Gold, oneworld Emerald and Sapphire, shared with Aer Lingus, Priority Pass | Built around the evening London wave; quiet and well stocked, but useless before mid afternoon |
| Lufthansa Lounge | Next to gates B49 and B51 | Temporarily closed for renovations | When open: Lufthansa group and Star Alliance premium cabins, Star Alliance Gold, Senator and HON Circle; reopening date to be confirmed | Closed as of June 2026; Lufthansa premium passengers are directed to the Turkish, BA, Polaris and United Club lounges instead |
Concourse B belongs to the Turkish Airlines Lounge. It takes walk ins, it takes Priority Pass, and it feeds you properly, which makes it the default answer for almost any layover at Dulles. The BA Galleries Lounge is a genuine second option after 14:30, and with Lufthansa shut, B is also where displaced Star Alliance flyers pile in. Go at opening or expect company.
Concourses C and D
Concourse C and D lounges
| Lounge | Location | Hours | Access | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| United Polaris Lounge | Concourse C, near gate C18 | 05:30 to 22:00 | United Polaris business class and Star Alliance long haul international business and first, departing same day | A la carte dining, showers and day beds; one of the best business class lounges in the US |
| United Club | Concourse C, near gate C7 | 05:30 to 22:00 | United Club members, Star Alliance Gold and Star Alliance international premium cabins, eligible United cards | The bigger of the two C Clubs; fine for work, forgettable for food |
| United Club | Concourse C, near gate C17 | 05:30 to 22:00 | United Club members, Star Alliance Gold and Star Alliance international premium cabins, eligible United cards | Handy when the C7 Club queues; same product, smaller room |
| United Club | Concourse D, near gate D8 | 05:30 to 22:00 | United Club members, Star Alliance Gold and Star Alliance international premium cabins, eligible United cards | The quietest of the three; D gate regulars know it |
This is United country, and the hierarchy is simple. If your ticket or status opens the Polaris Lounge, go, eat a real meal and shower; nothing else at Dulles competes on food. The three United Clubs are interchangeable and serviceable, so pick the one nearest your gate. Priority Pass holders get nothing in C or D except the Chef Geoff's dining credit near gate C14, which is honestly a fair consolation when a burger beats a buffet.

What actually opens these doors
Priority Pass is the strongest independent key at Dulles. It fully opens the Turkish Airlines Lounge in B, the Air France KLM Lounge in A outside 15:00 to 18:00, and the British Airways Galleries Lounge from 14:30. It also buys restricted windows at the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse, one visit per calendar year at the Etihad Lounge run with Chase, and a dining credit at Chef Geoff's in Concourse C. Most doors cap the stay at 3 hours.
Credit cards matter more here than at most airports. Capital One Venture X gets the cardholder unlimited entry to the Capital One Lounge. Chase Sapphire Reserve, J.P. Morgan Reserve and Ritz Carlton cardholders with an activated Priority Pass get unlimited visits and two free guests at the Etihad Lounge. American Express has no Centurion Lounge at IAD, so Platinum cardholders are working the Priority Pass list like everyone else.
Class of travel and status covers the rest. Star Alliance business, first and Gold flyers are spoiled: Turkish, the three United Clubs, and the Polaris Lounge for long haul premium cabins. SkyTeam Elite Plus opens the Air France KLM Lounge, and oneworld Emerald and Sapphire open BA Galleries. Etihad and Virgin Atlantic premium passengers each get a dedicated room in Concourse A.
Paying at the door is thin. Turkish accepts walk ins, Venture and Spark Miles cardholders can buy Capital One entry at 45 dollars, and the standard Priority Pass overage at the Etihad Lounge is 75 dollars. There is no generic pay per use lounge at Dulles, which makes a lounge membership unusually valuable here.
Rules shift and renovations happen, the Lufthansa closure being the current proof. Treat the tables as the map and confirm the door you are counting on the day you fly. For the full strategy on which doors to hit and in what order, see the Priority Pass playbook for Washington Dulles.

FAQ
Dulles lounge questions
Which Dulles lounges take Priority Pass?
Three fully: the Turkish Airlines Lounge in Concourse B, the Air France KLM Lounge in Concourse A outside 15:00 to 18:00, and the British Airways Galleries Lounge in Concourse B from 14:30. The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse takes Priority Pass in off peak windows, the Etihad Lounge allows one visit per calendar year, and Chef Geoff's in Concourse C offers a dining credit.
Can I get into a Dulles lounge without status or a business class ticket?
Yes, with the right card. Priority Pass opens the Turkish, Air France KLM and British Airways lounges, Capital One Venture X opens the Capital One Lounge, and Chase Sapphire Reserve opens the Etihad Lounge with unlimited visits. Without any card, options shrink to buying Capital One entry through an eligible Venture card at 45 dollars.
Is there an Amex Centurion Lounge at Washington Dulles?
No. American Express has no Centurion Lounge at IAD. Platinum cardholders use their Priority Pass Select membership instead, which opens the Turkish Airlines, Air France KLM and British Airways lounges subject to each lounge's hours and restrictions.
What is the best lounge at Dulles?
With access, the United Polaris Lounge near gate C18 for its a la carte dining and showers. Without status, the Capital One Lounge in the Main Terminal is the strongest room, and the Turkish Airlines Lounge in Concourse B is the best door a plain Priority Pass can open.
Is the Lufthansa Lounge at Dulles open?
No. The Lufthansa Lounge next to gates B49 and B51 is temporarily closed for renovations as of June 2026, with no confirmed reopening date. Lufthansa directs eligible premium passengers to the Turkish Airlines and British Airways lounges in Concourse B and the United Polaris Lounge and United Club in Concourse C.
Do I have to change concourses to reach a lounge at IAD?
Often, yes, but it is painless. All four concourses and the Main Terminal connect airside via the AeroTrain, so you can reach any lounge without clearing security again. Allow ten to fifteen minutes each way and favor the lounge in your departure concourse on tight connections.
